Registration is Now Open for Spring Andrews University Classes

• Find classes approved for dual enrollment - Additional classes can be taken with instructor approval with evidence of readiness to succeed. Email before completing a registration form if you’ve discussed a class not on this list, so we can gain the departmental approval first.
• Find main campus classes in this schedule - New! Honors classes on campus are now open to high school seniors with a GPA of 3.5+ and SAT (Math & Reading) total of 1200+ or ACT composite of 25+. Visit the Honors Program website or email for more information
• Find online course information here - We updated options, responding to your interested! Virtual math classes are no longer available as they proved too challenging for most at a distance.
• Follow these steps to register before school ends! - As the pandemic has disrupted all of our lives, for returning students there are no late fees and you can fill in the registration form at home, save and email to the school (Sharon) to sign and they can email it to precollege@andrews.edu. 

Already talked with a school counselor and parent, and found Andrews classes that fit your schedule? Then apply online as an undergraduate high school guest, and complete the registration form. This is a fill-in form.  Send to Sharon at shaynes@shamrocks.us.  Register soon; pay any time before class begins. 

Due to state reimbursement rules for college classes:

• If 1 dual enrollment class is taken, the student can and must take at least 1 regular partnership class, but can take up to 3 regular classes (including online).
• If 2 dual enrollment classes are taken, the student must take 1 regular partnership class, and cannot take more. 

Dual enrollment students can take any class except for religion, craft/hobby, phys ed or remedial. Dual enrollment courses can be core subjects as long as they are taken for college credit only, non-core subjects can be taken for both high school and college credit.  To get the college classes you need, you may register before partnership registration opens.  You must also take one other Partnership class in order to take 1-2 dual enrollment courses.

Once you have met with an advisor and have the registration form filled out with classes selected and test scores filled in, send the form to Sharon to sign and we will fax it to Andrews.

Note:  Our payment to the college may cover all expenses, including books, for a 3 credit/3 contact hour class.  High contact hour/billing hour classes may cost more than our allowance per class.  Any amount or books over the allowance is the responsibility of the family. The exact amount may not be known until after the class has begun.  Classes such as high level math, science, art, photography, etc. tend to have labs and high contact hours (4 or 5), depending on the school.  

To get the college classes you need, you may register before partnership registration opens. One other Partnership class is required (community or virtual) in order to take any dual enrollment class. If one dual enrollment class is taken, the student must take one but may take up to 3 community or virtual classes.  If the student is taking 2 dual enrollment classes, the student must take one and can only take that one community or virtual class.

While some students are connecting with faculty who naturally mentor and inspire career directions through class interaction, we would like to provide advising access to all students thinking about career paths.  Rather than just taking classes friends have enjoyed, or parents consider fitting, a 20-30 minute appointment (via video conferencing) with one or more Andrews University advisors could spark new interests and establish earlier understanding of career paths.  Please email precollege for an appointment.

Please review time management skills and all activities planned before signing applications. While 90% of high schools who are approved at our current admission criteria thresholds are thriving, those who struggle most commonly do not schedule enough hours. They need to have at least 3 hours of focused study per credit per week for each college class. For example, a 4 credit calculus class will need 12 hours per week - that's 2 hours per day, 6 days per week! Top students who are committed to multiple extra-curricular activities underestimate the time it will take to succeed in a college class, which is very different from the high school classes they've often been able to get good grades in with minimal effort.  Students need to be mature for their age, self-motivated, and proactive in problem solving.

Effective Spring '25: Andrews NO LONGER has a voucher system.  They are no longer a Barnes and Noble store, and did not give us any notice of this change.  Books are not covered by the Partnership since the bookstore has no ability to produce vouchers for dual enrollment students at this time.  

Students must login to bncvirtual.com/andrews , create an account and follow the prompts.  Add books to your cart and check out using a credit card.  The Partnership cannot reimburse for any expenses.

If a student enrolls in a college class and withdraws from that class after the college's refund/transfer window, or receives a failing ending grade, he or she will not be eligible to take future dual enrollment classes through the Partnership.  Parents have the option of reimbursing BSPS for all tuition and fees incurred in order to maintain their dual enrollment eligibility status.  If the student fails to reimburse the school, the student may not participate in the partnership in the future.
